Thanksgiving Table Graces

Looking for prayers to use around the thanksgiving table?
Here are a few options!

From Luther’s Small Catechism:
The members of the household are to come to the table and say, “Lord, bless us and these your gifts, which we receive from your bountiful goodness, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.”

Then they are to recite the Lord’s prayer.

After eating, they should in the same manner say, “Give thanks to the Lord, for the Lord is good, for God’s mercy endures forever, amen!”

Then they are to recite the Lord’s prayer and the following: “We give thanks to you, Lord God, through Jesus Christ our Lord, for all your benefits, you who live and reign forever. Amen.”

Or, maybe your family is a silly bunch. Then you can use this:
“Rub-a-dub-dub, thanks for the grub. Yay God!”

Or, maybe something in between:
God, we thank you for your goodness and for all you have made. We praise you for your creation, for keeping all things in your care, and for all the blessings of life. Give us an awareness of your love, that with thankful hearts we may praise you. To you be all worship and praise, now and forever. Amen.
